LEGAL LONDON

As you would expect, our London office is situated in the heart of London's legal district and there are several places that you may find of interest:
  • The Old Bailey
    www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/oldbailey
The country’s Central Criminal Court, better known as The Old Bailey, is a 10 minute walk from the office. Oscar Wilde was tried here in 1895 and more recently, Peter Sutcliffe (the Yorkshire Ripper) in 1981. The Court is not a tourist attraction as such, but the public are admitted to watch trials.
  • Royal Courts of Justice
    www.open.gov.uk
Seat of the High Court and the Court of Appeal. Even if the court is not in session, the building is well worth a visit – the entrance hall alone boasts an Italian mosaic floor, gothic arches, and stained glass windows. There is also an exhibition of legal costumes and regalia, as well as numerous paintings and prints with a legal theme.
  • Inns of Court
In the Middle Ages, the need for trainee lawyers led to the founding of hostels (the Inns of Court) where they could live and study. The Inns operated much like universities, providing students with accommodation and meals, as well as tuition. Four Inns remain today, although only Middle Temple is open to the public on a regular basis. The Inns are:
  • Gray’s Inn
