We run a comprehensive induction programme that will provide all the information you need to get started. We will tell you all about:
- Your Training Contract
We believe that training and development is a 'two way street', so we'll chat through our respective responsibilities during your training contract to be sure you appreciate the contribution you can, and should, make to your own development and exactly what support you can expect from us.
- The Practices
Each practice will talk to you about the work they do and, more importantly, how you can play a part in it. We realise it's important for you to understand exactly what's expected of you and how you can make an early contribution.
- Office Systems and Administration
We provide comprehensive training on our IT systems, electronic research facilities, and telecommunications equipment. You'll also be introduced to all our support functions and talked through our administrative structure and procedures so that you understand how to get things done efficiently.
- Secretarial Support
We have a team of expert secretaries dedicated to supporting trainees to help ease you into office life and answer all those questions you're bound to have in the first few weeks.
On your first evening, we hold a drinks reception and dinner to welcome you to the Firm.
- The New Lawyers Academy
Every November, the Firm holds a week long New Lawyers Academy in Washington, DC. All London Office trainees attend the Academy, which gives them an opportunity to hear more about the history of the Firm, how the offices interact, what the Firm is working on in each region, and what the Firm hopes for from its new lawyers. There are a number of skills-training sessions offered, as well as plenty of time for socialising and getting to know fellow new lawyers from around the world. Trainees are also invited to spend the weekend after the Academy in Washington, DC, so there is time to explore the city and enjoy being a tourist.
